Matthew obtained his law degree from Newcastle University before studying at the College of Law in York.
Matthew qualified and was admitted as a solicitor in 2006. Since qualification he has specialised in personal injury, medical negligence and industrial disease claims the latter relating primary to claims arising from asbestos exposure. He handles a whole range of injury claims including those involving catastrophic injuries and illness.
He also handles commercial disputes and general litigation matters.
In 2012 Matthew joined his father Gerard, the firms senior partner, at Merritts and in October 2014 became a Partner.
Matthew is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and holds the Law society’s accreditation for personal injury work. The accreditation is a recognition of Matthews experience and knowledge of all types of injury claims.
