Dermot is a graduate of Galway University (B.Comm / LL.B Hons). Following admission to the Law Society of England and Wales, he undertook postgraduate studies (LL.M in Advanced Legal Practice) at Northumbria University. He is also a Licentiate of the Institute of Bankers of Ireland.
After spells in the Manchester offices of corporate boutique Turner Parkinson and national firm Freeths, Dermot relocated to the North East in 2011. He was elected to Council of the Tees Valley Law Society in July 2012.
Having a keen interest in general business law, Dermot’s practice area encompasses commercial contracts, commercial property, partnerships, business sales / acquisitions and company secretarial work. He also oversees a significant caseload of residential conveyancing matters.
Aside from non-contentious matters, Dermot is a strong advocate of alternate dispute resolution and is dual-qualified as a Commercial Mediator.
Outside of legal practice, Dermot enjoys music (he is a member of the Richmond Classical Guitar Society), sport, and travel.
